While most parrot species are monomorphic, meaning both males and females are visually identical, Pacific Parrotlets are dimorphic. Males can easily be distinguished even at this young age by the cobalt blue on their wings and rump feathers. Females are lacking this deep blue coloration, but are equally stunning.
